When clients first see our standard configuration of two cleaners arriving together, the question is fair: isn't one person cheaper?
Short answer: yes for an hour, no for the job. Here's the long answer.
Total time on site drops by half
A solo cleaner doing a standard 3-bedroom Barcelona apartment is on site for 5 to 6 hours. Two professionals split the floor plan, with one starting kitchen and bathrooms while the other moves through bedrooms and floors. They finish the same job in 2 to 3 hours.
That matters because:
- You don't have a stranger in your home all afternoon
- Your dog (or your toddler) is disrupted for less time
- You can schedule cleans during a window you're out, not a window that takes over the day
Quality holds at the end of the shift
By hour four, even experienced cleaners are slower and less precise. Two people working two hours each are sharper than one person working six. That sharpness shows in the corners, the baseboards, the inside of the microwave. The places where standards quietly slip.
Safety, both ways
Two people can:
- Lift heavy furniture without injury (the back is the most common cleaner injury)
- Move out and back in a sofa to reach behind it
- Reach tall windows safely
And for the client, there are always two witnesses to anything that happens in your home. That sounds blunt but it's important, both for trust and for the cleaners' own protection.
The pricing math
You'd think two cleaners cost twice as much. They don't:
- We pay for person-hours, not call-outs
- A 2-person × 2-hour job is 4 person-hours
- A 1-person × 5-hour job is 5 person-hours
- You actually pay slightly less for the two-person team, and lose 2 to 3 hours less of your day
The numbers depend on the home, but in most apartments we visit, two-person teams come out cheaper and faster.
When we send one
There are cases where one is right. Small studios, light maintenance cleans between deep-cleans, very specific schedules. We talk this through during onboarding. The default is two, because the default works for almost everyone.
